The Experience
Morning is one of the most active and busiest part of the day in Saigon – a great time to see the bustling activities of everyday life. We’ll be exploring one of my favorite neighborhoods home to two famous landmarks – Tan Dinh Church aka ‘Pink Church’ and Tan Dinh Market. Tan Dinh District is reputable for having some of the best, high quality foods with influence from the Chinese and French. The historical legacy of this area is visible in the preserved buildings and architecture such as Chinese temples and French villas.
On our walk, you”ll be seeing the convergence of past and present in daily life of this neighborhood. The busy morning street scene is filled with vendors selling breakfast foods like sticky rice or steamed buns, colorful flowers on street corners, and vibrant wet markets with fresh fruits and vegetables. I’ll be taking you to places where I regular shop and eat such as my favorite deli, a four-generation egg noodle stall, a market in an original French-colonial building, and a historic wooden house that was a hiding place for soldiers during the Vietnam War.
